Making Finger Paint out of Vegetable Juice

This page includes the finger baby safe paint activity that I prepared for my daughter out of vegetable juice when she was little.

You also can prepare finger paint by yourself at home by using natural materials. Thereby you can inhibit health problems that might occur because of the fact that children in young age group might swallow the paint. While your children enjoy painting freely, you can watch the works that are created by the imagination of your beloved ones blissfully.

Materials:

• ½ glass of corn starch
• ½ dessert spoon of salt
• 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
• 2 glasses of cold water
• Sorts of vegetable juice

Mix all of the materials except for vegetable juice with beater at medium heat. Blend it for 15-20 minutes until it gets a dense texture and leave it to get cold. Then, prepare vegetable juice by using fruit press.

You can use;

Carrot for orange,

Spinach for green,

Sweet paprika, red beet, blueberry, cornelian cherry and strawberry for red and pink,

Lemon for yellow,

Red cabbage for blue and purple,

Infused tea for brown.

Important Points;

For blue and purple: If you boil red cabbage until the water becomes bright red, you will get purple. If you want to obtain blue, add baking soda or soda slowly and carefully after the water becomes bright red and mix it. You can adjust the amount of baking soda according to the shade of blue you want to obtain.

For red and pink: Similarly, if you want to get pink, add baking soda to the water of red beet that you have boiled to acquire red.

Then, blend the vegetable juice with the mixture you have prepared before. You can add more vegetable juice until the mixture gets the desired consistency. We prepared colors of orange, green and red. That is a wonderful and enjoyable activity for sensual development.
